Workshop 2, Family Collage Play

September 12th (10:30-11:30am) Via Zoom

Ages 3 and Up

The beginning of the school year, with so much unknown, can bring a whole lotta feelings so gather the whole family and join artist/author/illustrator/teacher Kait Walsh for one or all of her three part Creative Play series. Through a series of guided exercises Kait will help engage the whole family in imaginative play and collaboration that will leave everyone feeling excited and inspired.

Students will engage in authentic art experiences as they complete a series of open ended collage activities designed to encourage innovation and risk taking. The students will use a variety of materials to experience the possibilities of collage.

Students will be given verbal steps, with some examples, of shapes that they will cut and adhere to another surface. They will then be given verbal prompts to engage in innovative thinking and creative play as they build on each shape to develop a completed piece.

Students will begin building on each shape, incorporating other details and art materials to express their unique perspective. Students are also encouraged to collaborate with fellow family members and combine their work.

Materials and Tools: Variety of paper (aluminum, wrapping, grocery bags, etc), pens, pencils, coloring materials, scissors, tape and/or glue.

About our instructor Kait Walsh:

For almost a decade Kait Walsh taught five + six year olds in a classroom. Now she spends her days creating art + stories for kids + kids at heart. Her art is a love letter that has been sketched, painted, cut, carved, stamped, sewn, glued and always at it's best when done with others. For more info, see her website www.sealedwithakait.com
