About Shonda Buchanan:
Shonda Buchanan, a writer, educator and speaker, whose recent book “Black Indian-A Memoir” explores her family’s legacy of being African American with American Indian roots and how they dealt with societal ostracization and the consequences of their dual inheritance. NPR has named her book a “must read” of recent Black American literature. As an educator, she has taught Creative Writing, Composition and Critical Theory at Loyola Marymount University, Hampton University and William & Mary College for the past eighteen years.
