ILLUMINATE THE NIGHT
6:00 -10:00 pm
llluminate the Night is a free, neighborhood celebration highlighting the Taylor Yard Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge. We ask attendees to literally "bring the light" to Frogtown. We're bringing the light after the shadow of the pandemic, bringing the light to our darkest corners, lighting our path and shining bright in our community.

Join us for an evening of art and culture featuring music, dance and spoken word performances with light installations along the LA River Bike Path in Frogtown. We encourage everyone to wear lights, bring lights, decorate your business, your bicycle and the bike path with all kinds of light. The event functions as a way for residents to get to know each other, celebrate arts & culture and extend an invitation to our neighbors across the bridge in Cypress Park to participate in the festivities and activate their spaces during this evening of light and love.

Leave your car at home and ride your bike, take the metro or use a ride share company and direct them to one of our drop-off locations.
What happened in 2022?
In 2022, over 600 attendees viewed art and cultural performances presented by 60 artists and performers - all in celebration of the opening of the new Taylor Yard Pedestrian and Bike Bridge linking Elysian Valley/Frogtown to Cypress Park across the river. Community collaborators included CD13, Frogtown Brewery, Projected Visions, MASHUP Contemporary Dance, Frame Monster Design Lab, The Blake Avenue Lofts, The Klub Gymnastics, Happier Camper, Clockshop, Xipe Totec Aztec Dance and poet Mike Sonksen. The festival was supported by grants from Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and California Arts Council.
We look forward to exhibits and performances by Bloco Obini-All Female African Drum Group, The Realm Ballet Company, light installations by Projected Visions, light artists Justin Lui and Cynthia Minet, David Prather's Poetry Jam for kids, live music by local jazz and rock bands, DJ sets by LoveyDove and Peter Woods, kitten adoptions with Luxe Paws, a mosaic workshop with Katrina Alexy, a literary lounge curated by Mike Sonksen showcasing Los Angeles' brightest poets......and much more!
