Lane Barden

Lane Barden is an artist, architecture photographer and teacher working in Lincoln Heights. His work is in the collections of the Getty Research Institute at the Getty Center, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of New Mexico.

This work consists of photographs taken in the Los Angeles River channel from Frogtown to Long Beach, then digitally altered with an algorithm that breaks down the structure of the image to yield an edgy, painterly result. The work speaks to the environment, infrastructure, and the strange beauty of the industrial landscape.
